Why Artists Travel to Work With Us

Creative Partnership

Our engineers are passionate about music. We have decades of production experience behind the desk, and have worked extensively as musicians and touring professionals for some of the world’s biggest artists

We can help shape arrangements, bring out your best performances and transform your songs into records.

Major Label Sound

Purpose-built as a professional studio facility, our acoustically-designed spaces are paired with industry-standard gear trusted by the world’s best.

At the heart of the control room is an SSL AWS 900 +, supported by an extensive mic collection and a wide range of modern and vintage instruments, amps, and outboard.

Alongside the main studio, a dedicated mixing suite offers the perfect environment for focused production work, while a well stocked kitchen and comfortable lounge provide the space to relax, recharge, and keep creativity flowing.

Prime Location

Newcastle offers you a world-class recording environment away from the chaos or cost of the capital.

Based in Ouseburn – the city’s creative district – our studio is surrounded by boutique hotels, independent coffee shops, buzzing bars, restaurants, and live venues. It’s a place where artists come not just to record, but to immerse themselves in a neighbourhood built on culture, energy, and inspiration.

Getting here is easy too – we’re less than 15 minutes from Newcastle Airport and 10 minutes from Newcastle Central Station, with artist pickup available.

When the session’s done, the wider region is waiting, from the wild beauty of our countryside and coastline, to landmarks and cities with a rich and vibrant history. The North East offers something for everyone

Hear What We've Done

From independently-released singles to full-length commercial albums, here’s a selection of projects recorded and mixed in our studio:

4 Tracks. 5 Days.

Industry Standard.

We specialise in EPs and albums for ambitious artists.

Record 4 songs over 5 days with an experienced producer, leaving with polished tracking sessions and rough mixes ready for the next stage.

From there, we’ll guide you through your next steps - professional mixing and mastering - to get your songs release-ready within a month.

Typical 5-day tracking projects start from £2k (shorter options available if you have fewer songs), with limited capacity of 2 projects per month. We’ll shape a package around your songs and goals, so you know exactly what’s included before you start.

More than just recording, we build relationships with artists who want to further their careers and move up to the next level.

We can provide songwriting support, pre and post-production, session musicians, videographers, and a whole host of other services on request.

What Are You Waiting For?

Our Studio

Blast Recording is the leading music production facility in the North East of England.

Control Room & Live Room

Designed by White Mark Ltd (Abbey Road, Real World), our studio combines precision acoustics with a versatile live room.

At the heart sits an SSL AWS 900 console with Neve preamps, boutique outboard, and world-class monitoring.

Built for records that translate everywhere.

Mix Suite

A smaller, acoustically focused room designed for mixing and mastering on Adam S3As and a KRK sub.

With in-house guitars, synths and more at your fingertips, it’s also a creative space for writing and production.

The Mix Suite is ideal for overdubs, editing, or smaller projects running alongside main studio sessions.

What Artists Say:

FAQ's

Very easy – bands travel from across the UK and beyond. We are less than 15 minutes from Newcastle airport and National Rail links, and can offer a shuttle service on request. We can also recommend nearby accommodation.

Yes – the live room accommodates full-band tracking with an isolation booth and custom made baffles providing separation where necessary.

SSL AWS 900+ console fully integrated with Pro-Tools HDX. Preamps by Neve, Chandler, Great River, Summit and DW Fearn amongst others. Outboard processors from UA, UREI, Empirical Labs, Pendulum, Bricasti, Cranesong, Manley, Retro and more. Classic microphones, a wide range of vintage and modern amplifiers and instruments. Monitoring from Exigy and Adam.

Yes – we can take your professionally produced and edited multitracks, and deliver radio-quality mixes ready for mastering.

We offer revisions to ensure you’re happy, and can provide stems if required.

You’ll receive the stereo mix along with both Instrumental and A cappella versions. Mixing prices start at £300/track.

Yes – we do offer standalone mastering services. That said, we recommend that our production and mixing clients send their tracks out for mastering with one of our recommended and trusted partners, and can provide guidance to suit a range of different budgets.

On-site parking and easy gear access.

Yes – we are all multi-instrumentalists, so can cover a lot of bases. However, if you are a solo artist and want to work with a band, we can book reliable, experienced players if your project needs extra instrumentation.

We plan carefully before you record – pairing you with the right producer, sharing references, agreeing the direction together and making sure we understand the sound you’re aiming for. In the studio we work collaboratively, allowing space to experiment and refine until your music feels right. Our goal is always to make sure you leave with a recording you’re proud of.

Not at all — you can record as few or as many songs as you like. We’ll discuss your project in detail to tailor the sessions around your goals and make sure you get the best value for your time and money.

A tight band will be able to get through 4 songs quicker than 5 days, but we recommend 5 days so that we can really dial in sounds, experiment with arrangements and make the song as great as it can be.

That said, we tailor all quotes to your needs. Book a call with Andy to discuss further! Follow this link to book: https://calendly.com/blast-recording.com
