Every artist gets the same level of care in our studio – a space built to ensure you feel supported and ready to create a record that’s true to you.

How we can help on your first day

Every artist arrives with something different - a voice note, a beat, a riff, or just a concept for a song.

We are here to develop raw ideas and help refine and realise your vision.

What we'll do together:

  • Talk through your ideas and references so we know the direction you want to take. You’ll receive a simple prep checklist so you feel well prepared for the session.
  • When you arrive we’ll have the tea or coffee ready. You’ll be given a quick walk-through of the live room, booths, and control room to make you feel at home.
  • We’ll set up the room to suit your session and agree on a plan for the day that is comfortable to you.
  • Record a quick, no pressure guide track to use as the foundation for your song.
  • Explore sounds and arrangements that bring your track to life.
  • Record takes in a way that feels natural and pressure-free.
  • Shape the tracks into something you can share and build on.
  • Leave the studio with a rough mix, and advice on the next steps.

Case Studies

Why Blast Recording for your first time?

  • Pro standards without the ego. You’ll get practical guidance and encouragement, not jargon.
  • Serious industry gear used on all your favourite records. SSL console, classic outboard preamps/processors, lush reverbs, vintage mics, and an incredible sounding live room.
  • Song-first approach. We don’t overproduce – we get the most out of your voice, band, and arrangements.
  • Artists come back to us – most first-timers return here to realise future projects after experiencing the service and support on offer.

FAQ's

Absolutely. Many of the artists we work with are recording for the first time. We’ll guide you through the process, explain everything clearly, and make sure you feel comfortable and confident along the way.

Your instrument(s), any backing tracks, lyric sheets – whatever you think you’ll need. We’ll send a prep checklist.

Yes — we’ll assist with arrangement, suggest parts and harmonies, and help shape your songs to ensure they are the best they can be.

Yes, you own your masters and publishing.

We’ll give you a clear quote after a quick chat about your goals. To secure a date, we take a 50% non-refundable deposit. The remaining balance is due on the first day of recording, but we can also offer staggered payments to make larger projects more manageable.

If you need to make changes, just let us know at least 72 hours in advance. That way we can replan the studio and engineer’s time. Your deposit is transferable once, so if you cancel we’ll happily move it over to secure a new date that works for you.

Sure, within reason – it should help you perform, not distract. Under-18s must bring a parent/guardian.

Light tune/comp is included – deeper editing is an optional extra.

We have on-site parking and are located close to Manors and Byker Metro stations, with bus links also available nearby.

We plan carefully before you record – pairing you with the right producer, sharing references, agreeing the direction together and making sure we understand the sound you’re aiming for. In the studio we work collaboratively, allowing space to experiment and refine until your music feels right. Our goal is always to make sure you leave with a recording you’re proud of.

It depends on the project. A single might take a day or two, an album would take longer. We’ll plan the schedule with you in advance so you know what to expect.

Every project is different, but we’ll give you a clear quote up front based on what you want to achieve. No hidden extras, no surprises.
